Fuse Link
The core function of a fuse link is to serve as a simple, passive, and single-use overcurrent protection device. By physically melting itself, the fuse link creates a permanent open circuit within the electrical system, isolating faults and preventing fires or equipment damage.
When the circuit current slightly exceeds the rated value over an extended period, the fuse link gradually heats up and eventually melts. In the event of a severe short circuit, where current surges instantaneously, the fuse link reacts within milliseconds to interrupt the fault current. It provides stable and reliable DC arc-breaking capability, requires no mechanical or electronic components, and is unaffected by moisture, dust, or corrosive environments. With inherently high reliability under harsh conditions and typically compact size, fuse links are easy to install in space-constrained equipment or older distribution panels.
